Book Update; And Some Software Pieces

I’m going to ramble about social media. Really, just Twitter. Before that, a few updates!

The first eight chapters of Husks: The First Book are edited. The amazing super secret covert artist is starting up work on my book cover as well. Should be done in a week or so. I’m crazy excited to see what the cover is going to look like. Anyway, that’s all for book updates. Remember, OryCon is coming up in November. I’ll be there. I hope anyone reading this will as well.

Now! Some software stuff.

I’m making a world-tracking piece of software. It’s going to be an open-source, cross-platform sort of deal. I’m calling it World Muncher for now, I’m just sort of finishing the basic layout of the application, then I’ll be coding the logic. It’ll be Electron (node.js/chromium) with a nice portable little SQLite database to store everything. Probably store the images in the database, if I can make that make reasonable sense. I’m not sure how sluggish large binary data blobs make SQLite, so I worry about them. But it’s okay. The first version is going to be very bare bones. It’s going to track people, places, and things and isn’t going to have much in the way of crazy tools or anything. This will probably mean rearranging some of the UI later on to make room for cooler tools and stuff, but that’s fine. Anyway, here’s a super early first look:

So! Not much longer on the book, got a little programming project to keep my occupied until then, gonna play some WoW (Moon Guard, the only place worth playing), and then I’ll be doing some YouTube videos here before too long. Fun times. Again, hope I see folks who read my stuff at OryCon. I doubt I will, but still! I can dream!
